Looking for a food storage planner and record keeper, that is low cost and non-electronic? I was too! In fact I looked high and low and could not find anything I really liked. So I designed my own.
The food storage section of the Preparedness Planner is truly the heart of the planner, in that it covers both food storage inventory and rotation. Food storage is the most difficult and complicated prep to track, but I think I’ve come up with a system that makes it relatively simple.
Of course the other preparedness minded aspect of this planner is that it is not electronic. Not that preppers live in the dark ages or can’t use a computer, we just know how fragile our electronic and internet systems can be. While computer data can be printed, you’re just left with numbers on a piece of paper, a static page, not a system where you can plug in numbers and keep track of items in a grid down situation. It is much better to have a paper system where you scan or take pictures of your hard-copies.
Let me show you how it works:
Build your food supply by planning out 1 month’s worth of meals and multiplying by 3.
Use the 1-3 month food storage worksheet to help build a shopping list.
Then start using the balance sheet. Start with any month of the year and set goals for the year. This is the core of the food storage section of the Preparedness Planner because it allows you to keep track of your food rotation.
The food storage section also includes an inventory sheet. This sheet will allow you to build a food storage quickly without worrying about rotation. Once you have a good stockpile then you can move to using the balance sheet to keep track of rotation and replenishing.
Expiration date sheets are included for keeping track of expiration dates throughout your food storage.
You can even keep track of food items that don’t do well in food storage but will keep in the freezer.
The Preparedness Planner also covers water storage, bug-out bags, important documents, medical supplies, toiletries and cleaners, seeds and plants, animal and pet supplies, and gear and tools. Detailed instructions are included. It’s completely flexible; you only print out the pages you will use.
